Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text follows the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in Author Guidelines, on Submissions.

  • The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not under consideration for publication by another journal; otherwise, you must justify in "Comments to editor".
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word
  • URLs for references have been provided where necessary
  • The text is single-spaced; uses 12 font; employs italics rather than underlining (except in URL addresses); figures and tables are inserted in the text, not at the end of the document as attachments.
  • Statement of conditions for permission to publish in JOINS submitted with the article
  • Authorship was removed from the file before submission, but mentioned in the submission record

The information about the author (Name of the author, Title, Institution of formation, Year, Function and Institutional Affiliation, City, Federative Unit. E-mail) MUST BE EXCLUDED from the FILE before the submission process. All authors must be entered in the submission REGISTER. Inclusion of authors after approval of the article will not be accepted. 

The originals/abstracts for the selection must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc) format.

After analysis of the article by the referee(s), it will be directed to the author(s) for corrections, if necessary;

Images, graphs, tables or charts should be in the body of the text.

 


STRUCTURE OF THE ARTICLE

Articles with a maximum of 12 (twelve) pages including references and illustrations;

Title of the article: centered, bold, Arial font, size 12, uppercase letters and lowercase subtitles separated by colon;

Authors' names: The name of the author (authors) of the article must be written out in full on the line below the title with the e-mail address, name of the institution, indicated by letters (e.g. a, b, c). If it has had a professor's guidance, it should be placed as the last author in the order;

Submission date and Approval date: Submitted on: day/month/year. Approved: day/month/year;

Guidance: if you have, insert as the last name in the order of authorship/contribution;

Abstract: It must be written in a single paragraph, in Arial font size 10 and single-spaced, two lines below the name of the author(s), single spaced. The text of the abstract must contain the presentation of the topic, the problem or general objective of the research, the methodology, and the main results. It may be presented in English and Portuguese with a maximum of 250 words;

Keywords: should contain three to five keywords, one line below the abstract, separated from each other by periods. The font used should be Arial 10;

Body text: must consist of introduction, materials and methods, results and discussion, final considerations and bibliographical references; depending on the type of research that will be done, a characterization of the experimental area must be inserted, making evident the conditions under which the research was done, being elaborated according to ABNT norms. The font used should be Arial 12 and single spaced with text in one column;

References and citations: references should be typed in Arial font, size 12, aligned to the left, with single spacing between lines and separated from each other by a blank space. They must be presented in alphabetical order and contain all data necessary for their identification, according to the Brazilian norms NBR 6023/2018 and for citations, they must follow the NBR 10520/2002 using the author/date system. The accuracy of the references in the list and the correct citation in the text are the responsibility of the author(s) of the manuscript. Give preference to the most up-to-date references relevant to the study;

Illustrations: must present titles in Arial font, size 12. The identification appears in the upper part preceded by the word designation (diagrams, graphs, photographs, pictures, figure among others), followed by its number of occurrence in the text (Arabic numerals), indent and the respective title. The indication of the source appears at the bottom even if it is produced by the author himself, Arial font, size 10. Images will be accepted only in TIFF (Tagged-Image File Format) or JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) formats and with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI (Dots Per Inch). Images should also be sent as a separate file. They may be cited in the text or at the end of the sentence, between parentheses;

Tables: Arial font, size 11. The identification appears in the upper part preceded by the designative word (table), followed by its number of occurrence in the text (Arabic numerals), indent and the respective title. The indication of the source appears at the bottom, even if it was produced by the author himself. They may be cited in the text or at the end of the sentence, between parentheses (use IBGE norms of tabular presentation. 3. ed. Rio de Janeiro, 1993);

Acknowledgement: this item is optional and should be reserved for citation of funding and material support institutions or people who provided technical help.

Recommendations: it is recommended that the following ABNT (Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas) norms be observed:

Joins will publish complete original scientific articles in Portuguese and/or English and/or Spanish, with abstracts in the mother tongue and in English.
