Abstract

We are currently experiencing scenarios of uncertainties and adventitious circumstances where companies need to become more efficient and dynamic to be more competitive and be able to meet different market demands, but simultaneously be more sustainable to avoid waste. Thus, process knowledge and maintenance management is essential, but not always available in these companies. The lack of an approach and a reliability system represents an operational risk, safety risk and loss of production for the company, therefore, an efficient production process is necessary, with few failures and breakdowns of critical equipment, justifying and enhancing the better use of resources to achieve the goals and strategies of these companies. Well, through bibliographical research and study involving failure data of these equipments as well as the use of tools for quantitative analysis, this is possible. The understanding is quite clear: if resources were unlimited, there would be no need for a reliable production system or any management of critical equipment.
