Abstract

Current urban mobility presents significant challenges for emergency vehicles, especially in areas with heavy traffic flow and congested intersections. Ambulances and fire trucks often face delays due to the lack of coordination between traffic conditions and the critical route of an incident.

The GreenWave project proposes an intelligent system that automates traffic light switching based on the approach of emergency vehicles, using RFID communication in a reduced-scale prototype. The solution demonstrates how simple technologies can improve response times and increase operational safety.
