STUDY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MECHANICAL FORMING PROCESS (STAMPING)
Keywords:
Metal stamping, Mechanical forming, Computational simulation, SustainabilityAbstract
Metal stamping is a mechanical forming process used to deform metal sheets or tubes into specific geometries, such as cones for exhaust systems. Although it enables precise mass production, the process presents risks of defects, such as thinning or cracking.
The present study began after cracks were identified in formed parts during the stamping process at a company in Sorocaba. The focus of this work is to analyze these failures through computational simulations, aiming to better understand the stresses applied to the stamping die in order to optimize the process.
