Rolling: Altering the Geometry of Wire Profiles
Keywords:
Wire rolling, Plastic deformation, Metal profiles, SustainabilityAbstract
The work aims to simulate and analyze, using Creo Parametric and Ansys software, the rolling process of a 304L stainless steel wire, in which the cross-section is transformed from circular to triangular as it passes through forming rolls.
A similarity between rolling and drawing was observed; however, the process was classified as rolling because the plastic deformation is primarily controlled by the rolls, ensuring greater precision in the final geometry.
