Energy Harvesting from Airflow Generated by Vehicle Traffic
Keywords:
Energy harvesting, Vertical wind turbines, Road sustainability, SustainabilityAbstract
With the growing demand for electricity and the urgency to adopt sustainable solutions, the use of renewable energy sources has become essential. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA, 2024), global energy consumption increased by 2.2% in the last year, driving the search for clean and efficient alternatives. In this context, the present project proposes harnessing the wind generated by vehicle traffic on highways through vertical wind turbines installed in road infrastructure. The captured energy can be used to illuminate rest areas and charge mobile devices, contributing to safety and sustainability on highways.
