VTOWER – Smart Vertical Farming
Keywords:
Food Security, Malnutrition, Agriculture, SustainabilityAbstract
Agriculture was the first activity responsible for shaping geographic space; civilizations worked on farms near rivers. Agriculture is one of the main contributors to the high export and import rates of countries, accounting for up to 30% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Production has evolved to increase by 50% compared to the world population. Even with this growth, there are still people who go hungry.
In 2018, after a decade of progress in combating hunger, malnutrition began to rise again worldwide, especially in South America and Africa. Approximately 821 million people are considered malnourished, representing 10.9% of the world population, or roughly one in nine people. Another important aspect is the availability of food for the population, a condition that directly impacts food security.
