GREENWAVE: INTELLIGENT TRAFFIC PRIORITIZATION SYSTEM FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES

Abstract

Current urban mobility presents significant challenges for emergency vehicles, especially in regions with heavy traffic and congested intersections. Ambulances and fire trucks often face delays due to the lack of coordination between traffic flow and the critical route of the emergency.

The GreenWave project proposes an intelligent system that automates traffic light control based on the approach of emergency vehicles, using RFID communication in a reduced-scale prototype. The solution demonstrates how simple technologies can improve response times and increase operational safety.
