INCREASE IN PRODUCTION LINE DEMAND: DECISION-MAKING FOR ADDING WORKFORCE – PROJECT TITLE
Keywords:
AUTOMOTIVE MARKET, Production, SustainabilityAbstract
With the growing development of the automotive market, auto parts industries have identified the need to adapt in order to maintain competitiveness. The industry studied in this article also faced this scenario: at the beginning of the year, one of its largest-volume clients signaled an increase in demand starting in the second half of 2025.
In response to this request, the company needs to make a decision: either adapt the production line by adding direct labor (MOD) and balancing activities, or study the layout and line balancing to maintain the existing four operators while increasing the number of pieces produced per hour.
The main objective of this project is to determine which of the two scenarios is most suitable, taking into account operator safety, product quality, and client demand. It is important to highlight the theoretical number of operators, a calculation that will show how many operators are needed based on the activities and their cycle times. Within this study, the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) is considered, particularly Goal 9, which states: “Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.”
