The poor condition of sidewalks and streets in Brazilian cities represents a constant challenge for pedestrian mobility and safety. The risks associated with this global issue involve social and environmental factors.
Sidewalk maintenance is a fundamental aspect of urban mobility, and the Federal Constitution assigns the responsibility for public property conservation, including sidewalks, to the government, notifying municipalities to preserve these areas. The lack of effective means for the population to report these issues to public management results in delayed and inefficient maintenance.
In response, a website prototype called “ZelaRua” was developed, allowing citizens to report damaged public pavements for management and action by the municipality.
