SafeStep: Active Vibratory Safety Device Powered by Solar Energy
Keywords:
Inclusion, Tactile pavement, Renewable energyAbstract
Thinking about inclusion and traffic safety, we developed a vibratory device powered by solar energy, aimed at assisting visually and hearing-impaired individuals at pedestrian crossings. The solution was designed to be accessible, sustainable, and easy to install, suitable for application in various urban locations. Using vibration on a tactile pavement, the system alerts pedestrians when it is safe to cross, without relying on auditory or visual signals. Solar energy, in addition to reducing operational costs, reinforces our commitment to the environment and technological innovation.
