About the Journal

Presentation

The Journal of Innovation and Science: research and application - JOINS -  ISSN 2764-4448 is a partnership between Facens and Newton Paiva University Centers, which aims at publishing articles written by researchers, professors, undergraduate and post-graduate students and professionals in the fields of engineering, architecture and urbanism, technology and other related areas, whether or not associated with Facens and Newton Paiva.

It is a free-access electronic journal of technical-scientific interest that aims to present the most recent results of research conducted by institutions that focus on the mentioned areas and are at the frontier of knowledge. Thus, it proposes to be an instrument of fast dissemination, unrestricted access to professionals and researchers, and a strong tool for generating partnerships and collaborative research, as researchers increasingly seek to join forces in order to enhance their results.

Innovation is a key word for all those who seek JOINS, not only as a way to disseminate their research, but also to present it to more than 500 partner institutions of Facens and Newton, which will have access to and accompany this scientific journal, institutions in Brazil and abroad, from government, companies and universities.

The proposal is for the journal to be an exogenous dissemination instrument, i.e., to publish articles from all research institutions in Brazil and the world, without, however, forgetting the research conducted by our students and professors, who conduct cutting-edge research based on the "universities-industry-government" tripod. In this sense, the triple helix shows itself as more and more desirable in the research field and is strongly encouraged for the publications made here.

JOINS is born from the merger with the periodical EXATAMENTE, from the Centro Universitário Newton Paiva, gaining more relevance and penetration in the technical-scientific scenario. With the participation of the best works developed from the Course Conclusion Assignments (TCC's), Final Graduation Project (PGF's), internship reports, computer programs and systems, reports from extension projects and research groups, as well as works developed independently by students and professors who are or have been part of the academic community, EXATAMENTE brings quality content and the possibility for the entire scientific community to get to know the work done at Newton Paiva. With the merger, it gains a more exogenous bias, aligning with the DNA proposed for JOINS and aiming, increasingly, at partnerships.

We hope that all readers, authors and reviewers enjoy the format of JOINS, which we hope will gain body and visibility in the coming months and years. Quick publication tools with quality content are what we, in the scientific community, need most these days to spread our ideas and make partnerships, enhancing research.

Foreword to the edition of JOINS Magazine - Plugin: Market and Innovation

We present the edition of JOINS Magazine dedicated to the Plugin: Market and Innovation event, held in the second half of 2023, at the Facens University Center. Over four intense days, the event became a focal point for debates on innovation, technology and the future of careers and markets, offering a wide range of experiences that pushed participants to rethink the possibilities of working in the contemporary world.
The event was a platform for exchanging ideas, collaboration and learning. There were TALKS, WORKSHOPS, PROJECT PRESENTATIONS, a CAREER FAIR and a HEALTH AND WELL-BEING FAIR, creating a dynamic environment for everyone to explore new perspectives and build strategic connections that generate concrete results in the market.
A highlight of this edition, the UPX curricular unit has become an important link between academic teaching and the real demands of the market. Its focus on developing technical and socio-emotional skills, combined with socio-environmental awareness and encouraging an entrepreneurial attitude, reflects the mission of preparing students for the global challenges of the 21st century. The project has been a bridge between Facens' innovation centers, the business ecosystem and the job market, creating an immersive and practical learning experience, both inside and outside the classroom, through an innovative virtual learning environment.

In practice, students have the opportunity to work on real projects, develop solutions to market challenges, collaborate with civil society organizations and contribute to a more sustainable, intelligent and innovative future. Each semester, topics of global relevance such as: Smart City, Sustainability, Renewable Energies, Mobility and Urbanization, Digital Transformation, Hybrid Society, Impacts of Climate Change and Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation. These themes are explored in an interactive and creative way, stimulating critical thinking and entrepreneurial action.
In this issue, you will find a reflection of the positive impact generated by the projects presented at the event. These projects represent Facens' commitment to educating young people capable of facing the complexities of the modern world with technical competence, socio-environmental responsibility and an entrepreneurial vision.
We invite you to explore the pages of this magazine and be inspired by the ideas and initiatives. The Plugin: Market and Innovation event is a window on the future, and JOINS magazine is a vehicle for sharing these innovations and discoveries.

Happy reading and may innovation and transformation continue to inspire us every day!
